So it seems that the Hoverboard dilemma has reached my home town of Chicago.  Local news reports that the batteries of a Hoverboard bought for children combusted and cause damage to a north suburban home near Chicago.



The article doesnt have much more info, however, security camera footage in the affluent North Suburban home shows some of the fire's intensity.

Good article.  From what I understand, batteries
require extended exposure to 150+ degrees to achieve thermal runaway, typically
20 to 40 minutes depending on the battery. 
Good stuff here.  It adds a second
level of protection on top of the device protections (if the device has it).
